This is a special day indeed! No matter how some have played it down, it continues to be a much looked-forward-too day of our calendar year.
Certainly our stores profit greatly; from the purchase of flowers, gifts, and candy, to a romantic meal with a special card placed at the plate of that special "someone" in our lives. And, yes it does tend to "strike the original match" for some; while for others, it seems to seal in the mind of that significant other the confidence that is needed for the continuance of that deepening love each human longs for.
Women long to be remembered on Valentines Day. They really do not want to remind their loved one. Are they secretly praying they'll remember on their own?
Men, think "dollar signs again". But, they begin to watch the television commercials. They really don't want to be the one that's left behind having to explain "why" they didn't "remember". :) Or, maybe they'll use this excuse: "Valentines Day is a one way street. Why do I have to be the one to give all the attention?"
Well, by the end of the day the women really have no complaints, for the television have done their jobs well, and the men have learned long ago what a price can be paid by NOT remembering their love. And, so goes the old cliche, "all is well that ends well", and another year of Valentine's Day has come and gone.
No wonder whoever created this special holiday used the heart to emphasize it's great pleasure. You see, the heart is what it's all about. "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." Oh, if we could open up the windows of our hearts more often, and speak what is really more often "felt" than "telt".
